Program Planning and Evaluation Policy

1. Purpose

Hexagon Training is committed to developing Continuing Education activities that are scientifically grounded, professionally relevant, and designed to enhance the competence of licensed psychologists and regulated mental health professionals.

This Policy outlines the standards used to design, review, approve, and evaluate CE activities in accordance with recognized CE sponsor requirements in Canada and the United States.

2. Educational Design Standards

  • 2.1 All CE activities must have clearly defined learning objectives that describe measurable educational outcomes.
  • 2.2 Learning objectives must specify what Users will be able to do as a result of the activity.
  • 2.3 Learning objectives must align with the content presented and the evaluation methods used.
  • 2.4 CE activities must be designed for post graduate professional audiences and must extend beyond introductory or foundational graduate level instruction.

3. Scientific and Professional Integrity

  • 3.1 CE content must be based on current research, established theory, and professionally recognized best practices.
  • 3.2 Where evidence is emerging, controversial, or limited, presenters must clearly identify this and distinguish empirical findings from opinion.
  • 3.3 Content must be accurate, balanced, and free from commercial bias.
  • 3.4 Activities must be relevant to psychological practice, ethics, supervision, assessment, research, or professional leadership.

4. Planning and Review Process

  • 4.1 Each CE activity undergoes review prior to approval.
  • 4.2 Review includes evaluation of learning objectives, speaker qualifications, content accuracy and scientific grounding, conflict of interest disclosures, instructional level appropriateness, and compliance with ethical and sponsor standards.
  • 4.3 Hexagon Training retains authority to require revisions prior to approval.

5. Learner Evaluation

  • 5.1 All CE activities include an evaluation process.
  • 5.2 Evaluations assess achievement of learning objectives, quality and clarity of instruction, relevance to professional practice, perceived bias or imbalance, and overall program effectiveness.
  • 5.3 Completion of required evaluations is mandatory for CE Credit issuance.

6. Assessment of Learning

Where appropriate, CE activities may include post activity assessments, knowledge checks, or applied exercises to support demonstration of learning. For on-demand activities, completion of required modules and assessments is required prior to issuance of CE Credit.

7. Continuous Quality Improvement

  • 7.1 User feedback is reviewed periodically to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • 7.2 CE programming is revised as needed to maintain scientific integrity, relevance, and compliance with evolving professional standards.
  • 7.3 Documentation of planning, review, and evaluation processes is retained for a minimum of three (3) years and may be made available to sponsoring organizations upon request.

Changes to this Policy

Hexagon Training reserves the right to change this Program Planning and Evaluation Policy as deemed necessary or as required by law. Any changes will be posted on the Website and Users are deemed to have accepted the updated Policy upon continued use of the Website.
